Portrait of Mary Fleener by Fred Caldwell

Fred Caldwell is, “just a local guy forever”, who owns Caldwell’s Antiques in Leucadia. He’s on the board the of Leucadia Town Council, the Leucadia 101 Mainstreet Association, and is responsible for the huge surf-city theme graphics that adorn the exterior our city buses. Mary Fleener didn’t have a choice when she asked Fred to do a portrait for the AxA show. “I WANNA PAINT YOU!!”, Fred said… and the rest, as they say, is history. Fred’s piece , made with ”Sculpey”, was inspired by a womans’ costume in a turn of the century fortune teller machine. Fleener also sees The Future, and it’s always colorful.

  1. ROBERT WOMACK Says:

I have picture that has Fred Caldwell 1905 on it. The picture is of a little girl and a dog. It looks like pencil drawing. Is this the same Fred Caldwell.

  2. mfleener Says:

Not unless Fred is a vampire and never told me! lol

  3. Fred Says:

Obviously, the current vampire craze reveals that they were/are all hotties. So I’m probably not a vampire. But if you don’t believe me, I would like to have my drawing back. Or at least a JPEG of it!
My grandfather’s name was Fred Caldwell too. But I don’t know if he could draw or not….. Cheers, Fred
